Why You Should Consider Getting Bose QuietComfort 25
If there’s one pair of headphones worth keeping somewhere in your drawer or closet, it’s the Bose QuietComfort 25, better known as the QC25.
I actually own two sets. Not because they’re fragile, but because I want a backup in case parts eventually become harder to find or repair. These aren’t just “Buy It For Life” headphones, they come with a few advantages that aren’t immediately obvious.
The QC25 is an upgrade over the QC15, though it remains a wired headset. That alone can be a dealbreaker for some people, even though it isn’t for me. Later models like the QC35 and QC45 move into wireless territory and offer clear upgrades in convenience, but they also introduce tradeoffs that make the QC25 stand out in its own unique way.
One thing I genuinely love about the QC25 is that I never have to charge it. Wireless headphones are great until the battery dies, at which point you’re stuck. But to be fair, I also own a pair of Sony MDR-ZX770BN headphones, and their battery life is excellent, so this isn’t the best argument to make. Still, not having to think about charging at all is a different kind of cool.
Another benefit is the noise cancellation. It’s not the newest or most advanced on the market, but it’s very effective. The QC25 blocks out a significant amount of ambient noise and performs great in everyday environments, which is ultimately what matters the most to me.
The feature I cherish the most, though, and the main reason I recommend these headphones, is the fact its battery powered. The QC25 uses a single AAA battery for its noise cancellation to work. When I first learned that, I thought it felt outdated and very analog. Over time, I realized it’s actually one of its biggest advantages.
I have a small set of rechargeable AAA batteries that can last up to around 48 hours. I carry two spares in the case and one in the headphones. This setup gives me the ability to swap batteries instantly and keep going for days without interruption. Most modern wireless headphones simply can’t match that level of convience.
There’s also the bigger picture to consider. With many wireless headphones, once the internal battery degrades, the entire unit becomes impossible to use. The QC25 avoids that problem entirely. When the battery runs out, I just replace it. That is what makes these feel like true “buy it for life” headphones and why they’re worth considering.
